Ballydugan Mill
A 17th-Century Gem With Endless Photo Potential
Ballydugan Mill is one of those places that just gets weddings. Tucked into the countryside, wrapped in history, and surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery in Northern Ireland, it’s a venue I always love coming back to.

The lake beside the mill is unbelievable for photos — calm, open, and full of atmosphere. On the right evening, it turns into a giant reflector of colour and sparkle, perfect for golden-hour portraits or those dusky, romantic shots couples love. And if you fancy going a little further, you’ve got countryside, beaches, and even a lighthouse nearby. The whole area is packed with possibilities.
But the beauty of Ballydugan Mill is… you don’t have to go anywhere at all.
The 17th-century mill on its own is so photogenic that you can stay right on-site and never run out of places to shoot. The stonework, the architecture, the little pockets of light — everything works. And in the evening, when the lights and sparkles come on around the building, the whole place transforms into something magical.
And honestly, what really makes Ballydugan Mill special is the team.
Maureen and Mary run the place like absolute clockwork — they know weddings inside out, they know how to look after couples, and they make my job incredibly easy. A quick shout-out as well to Andy, the chef… I’ve been eating his food for years, and it’s always a highlight of the day.
I also feel genuinely privileged to be on Ballydugan Mill’s preferred supplier list — it’s an honour to be trusted by such an iconic and well-loved venue.
Every time I photograph a wedding at Ballydugan Mill, it reminds me why it’s one of my favourites.
Thanks for having me — always.
